Mohammad Shami T20 Record: Mohammad Shami has officially been named Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad on Friday. Shami has reached Australia and will link up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of the official ICC warm-up matches. The Uttar Pradesh-born pacer will most probably play against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and 19 respectively in warm-up matches. Shami has taken part in numerous tours to Australia. He was part of the Indian team that claimed two-Test series wins Down Under. Shami also participated in ODI World Cup in 2015, where he finished as India’s second-highest wicket-taker.
In Australia, Shami will join an all-rounder option in Hardik Pandya and a seam-bowling attack that includes Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel.
In the past three months, Shami hasn’t participated in any kind of cricket. After testing positive for COVID-19, he was forced to withdraw from India’s T20I team for the home series against Australia and South Africa in September.
Shami last participated in a T20I game during the 2021 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, which was almost a year ago. In the competition, he took six wickets from five matches at an economy of 8.84.
