Dana White comments on Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic at UFC 290

The UFC president talked about the possibility of the fight and its time. Dana White stated, “I’m not quite sure. Although it may require more time, we haven’t arrived yet, so we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out.”

The next question host asked was – Would UFC 290 be too soon to get this fight done, as there is little time left for July? Dana answered, “Stipe is a guy who hasn’t fought in a while. He is gotta figure out his situation and then gets back into the camp. I am not saying it would happen, but we will see.”

Will Jones vs Miocic happen at UFC 290

The heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic seems to be quickly approaching agreement. Miocic said the matchup might occur at UFC 290 on July 8 during International Fight Week. Moreover, “Bones” recently asserted that he had been given time for his initial heavyweight title defense.

Jones says his fight with the former heavyweight champion will likely occur at UFC 290. The 35-year-old was, however, really taken aback by how soon the date was proposed to him by UFC.

At UFC 285 last weekend, Jon Jones returned to the octagon after a three-year absence. He faced Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight championship. The former light-heavyweight champion dispelled any concerns about ring rust with a convincing submission victory in the opening frame.

After that, Jones called out Stipe Miocic, standing cage side. Since losing his heavyweight title to Francis Ngannou in 2021 via savage knockout, the former champion hasn’t competed.
