A handful of well-known MMA athletes have transitioned to boxing in recent years. Everyone put on a pair of gloves to test their mettle in the ring, including Conor McGregor, Anderson Silva, and Tito Ortiz. Given that dynamic, it comes as no surprise that fighters rarely move in the opposite way. Ryan Garcia, a former WBC interim lightweight champion who is still unbeaten at age 24, may attempt to change all of that.

Ryan Garcia still has a few years until the rubber meets the road, but it at least sounds that Garcia is still interested in following through on his declaration. Rener Gracie took Garcia through his first BJJ class in a recent video that was posted to the Gracie Breakdown YouTube channel. See some of the lesson’s highlights in the video below.
Garcia’s current attention is entirely on his boxing profession. Unbeaten at 23-0, “KingRyan” is expected to face WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis on April 15 in a 136 lb. catchweight contest. Garcia will be participating in the 140-pound light welterweight class going forward, therefore there won’t be any titles on the line for the fight.
Even though Garcia won’t be appearing in the Octagon anytime soon, it appears like he is setting the framework for some interesting movements in the future.
