Miami Open FINAL LIVE: Miami Open Finals Live – World No.1 Iga Swiatek won her third successive title in 2022 as she defeated Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-0 to win the Miami Open Women’s singles title on Saturday, 2nd April. With the win, Swiatek has extended her unbeaten streak to 17 straight matches in the WTA circuit. Swiatek is the first women to complete the “Sunshine Double” since Victoria Azarenka in 2016. Kim Clijsters (2005) and Steffi Graf (1994, 1996) are the other women to accomplish the feat.

The two players wasted no time getting into the heat of the battle as the match began with a wild seven-deuce opening game during which four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka saved two break points and fired down four aces to hold serve.
The match remained on serve until Swiatek broke Osaka when she ripped a brilliant crosscourt backhand winner to go ahead 3-2 and then went on to close out the first set without facing a break point despite serving under 40%.
The former French Open champion raised her level in the second where she broke Osaka three times to race out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back as she sealed the 79-minute match on her first championship point when Osaka sent a forehand wide.
On Monday, Swiatek will ascend to World No.1 for the first time in her career, and she will move to that position with authority following her commanding 1-hour and 17-minute victory over former World No.1 Osaka.
Swiatek also joins an exclusive club by becoming only the fourth woman to win the “Sunshine Double” — titles at WTA 1000 Indian Wells and Miami in the same season.
Swiatek swept the titles at WTA 1000 Doha, Indian Wells, and now Miami, joining Serena Williams (2013 – Miami, Madrid, Rome, Toronto) and Wozniacki (2010 – Montréal, Tokyo, Beijing) as the only players to win three or more consecutive WTA 1000 titles in a single season.

Second seed Swiatek entered the summit clash after a straight set victory over Jessica Pegula, while Osaka fought her way back against Belinda Bencic in the semis with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
- Swiatek, who became the World No.1 earlier this week is having a terrific year as she is on a 16-match win streak.
- She started the year by reaching the semi-finals of the Adelaide International, where she was defeated by Ashleigh Barty in straight sets.
- Swiatek then made another semi-final appearance at the Australian Open. She lost the contest to America’s Danielle Collins in straight sets.
- However in the Dubai Tennis Championships, she crashed out in the second round after losing to Jelena Ostapenko.

- This was perhaps her last loss in the WTA tour as she then won the title at Qatar Open.
- At the Indian Wells Masters too she made it all the way to final and defeated Maria Sakkari in the summit clash to win the title.
- At Miami, she has shown her terrific form, as she is yet to lose a single set in the tournament.
- She has comfortably defeated Viktorija Golubic, Maddison Brengle, Coco Gauff, Petra Kvitova and Jessica Pegula to reach the final.
