If Lionel Messi does manage to score his 700th goal in the next match he will take fewer matches than Ronaldo to reach the feat. The former Barcelona star will reach the milestone in 840 games. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo achieved the feat in his 943rd club appearance. The PSG attacker is also just seven goals short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 706 career goals.
The Al-Nassr striker Ronaldo has so far scored five goals in 5 matches since joining the Saudi Pro League. Messi, meanwhile, has a total of 16 goals and 14 assists in 27 matches across competitions this season. Following an impressive season so far the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is currently the frontrunner for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award.

After lifting the FIFA World Cup last year, Lionel Messi will be hoping to the win the Laureus Sports Award 2023. The PSG star has been nominated for the award and fellow nominee and tennis icon Rafael Nadal is backing the Argentine to win the award. Soon after the nominations for the ward this year was announced, Nadal took to Instagram and wrote, “A honour to be nominated again to the Laureus Sports Man of the year. But this year..,” He then posted another video of Lionel Messi’s nomination. “Come on Leo Messi! You deserve it,” Messi hd earlier bagged the honour in 2020.
