The 21-year-old has insisted that a move away from Ajax is ‘getting closer and closer’. Man United was linked with the young defender in the previous summer when Erik ten Hag just took over the charge as the new manager. The Dutch side declined the offer from Man United and the deal didn’t happen. They convinced their player to stay for one more season.
Erik ten Hag is keen to get him at Old Trafford so he will push for the 21-year-old defender in the upcoming summer. According to 90min, Man United representatives were in the stands last weekend to see Timber playing for Ajax against PSV Eindhoven.

The Ajax man is one of the top targets for Man United in the summer transfer window. While talking to De Telegraaf, the young gun confessed that he could seal a move away from the Netherlands in the summer.

Timber said, “A transfer is getting closer and closer, so to speak. There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax.”
He also added, “Last year, Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract. As a club boy, I did that with love, but after this season we will review the situation.
The Aajx defender continued, “When I’m with the Dutch national team, I often talk to guys who play football abroad. I want to take that step someday. But when that is, you will find out eventually and it will happen in consultation with Ajax.
“I’m still here and I’m in no hurry. The focus is now on the cup final and the remainder of the season.”
Manchester United is lacking the most in their defense due to some injuries and poor performances. Timber can provide some value to Man United along with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. Lisandro played with Timber during his days with Ajax.
The Red Devils have also picked Monaco’s Axel Disasi and Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard as summer targets but this Ajax defender would be the priority. Man United are doing great under ten Hag and will be back in the Champions League next season.
