Maharashtra Open Tennis: India’s Yuki Bhambri and Sumit Nagal will headline action in the qualifiers of the Maharashtra Open 2022. The Indians are aiming to enter the main draw of the ATP 250 event. The qualifiers action will begin from 31st December 2022. The draw features a highly competitive field as 16 players will be fight for four spots in the main draw. Apart from the Indians, last year’s semifinalist Elias Ymer will also be battling it out in the qualifiers. Yuki Bhambri made the cut into the qualifiers on the basis of his protected rankings of 127. Meanwhile, Sumit Nagal is ranked a lowly 218 in the world.

The qualifiers will also have USA’s World No.123 Christopher Eubanks, Italy’s 153rd ranked Mattea Bellucci. Maximiliam Matererer from Germany and Italy’s Flavio Cobbolli, who are all within the 175th rank. Former World No. 39 Peter Gojowczyk is also one of the key attractions among international stars in the qualifiers.

Former junior world number one, Bhambri staged an impressive comeback in the tournament last year from an injury. He progressed from the qualifiers and made it to the pre-quarterfinals. The qualifiers event will also have two wild card entrants. The draw for the qualifiers is not released yet.

How will the Maharashtra Open 2022 qualifying work?

  • The Singles Draw as always is of 28 Players.
  • Out of the 28, 24 players will receive a direct entry into the playoffs.
  • While the qualifiers will fight for the remaining four spots.

There will be two rounds of qualifiers at the Maharashtra Open 2022 Qualifiers.

When will the qualfiers be played? 

The qualifiers will be played on 31st December 2022 and 1st January 2023.
