Ramkumar Ramanathan vs Mattia Bellucci
Ramkumar Ramanathan continued his good form in the tournament as he has now sealed a spot in the main draw of the Maharashtra Open. The Indian, who is ranked 435th in the world sailed past a much higher ranked Mattia Bellucci in straight sets.
The Indian was at his best in the contest right from the start. He managed to clinch an early break in the first set and that was enough for him to seal the set 6-4. In the second set Bellucci gave a tough fight as both the players won five games each. Just when it looked like the set would go into the tie0breaker, Ramkumar broke his opponent’s serve in the last game to clinch the victory.

Yuki Bhambri vs Elias Ymer
Yuki Bhambri couldn’t do much against last year’s semifinalist Elias Ymer. Ymer dominated the contest right from the start. Soon after the match began, Ymer broke the Indian twice successively and raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set. Bhambri managed to hold his final service game as the Swedish clinched the set 6-1.
In the second set, Bhambri’s performance improved. However it wasn’t enough as Ymer closed out the match by winning it 6-4.
