Chasing a target of 182, Lucknow Super Giants were dealt an early blow with Josh Hazlewood removing Quinton de Kock early. LSG were reduced to 33/2 with Hazlewood bagging his second, removing Manish Pandey.
But KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya kept the scorecard ticking with a 31-run stand. But Harshal Patel dealt the biggest blow, dismissing KL Rahul. While there wasn’t much of an appeal, Faf du Plessis took a last-minute DRS and it was found that the ball just kissed past KL’s gloves.

Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda kept LSG in hunt with a 36-run stand but once Hooda was dismissed, LSG kept on losing wickets. In the end, Hazlewood’s wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni meant, LSG fell behind in scoring rate and ultimately could only score 163/8, losing by 18 runs. That loss also meant, LSG slipped to 4th.
Earlier, Captain Faf du Plessis missed out on a big century but his fighting 96 helped Royal Challengers Bangalore post 181/6 after sent to bat first. KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl at the DY Patil Stadium.
Sent to bat, RCB struggled. Dushmantha Chameera struck twice in the first over, removing Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli for a golden duck. Soon, Glenn Maxwell played a quickfire cameo but he too departed. It was Faf du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed’s 70-run partnership that steadied RCB’s ship. Du Plessis did the heavy lifting with DInesh Karthik supporting him in a 49-run stand as RCB reached 181/6.
