LPL 2021: SLC allows 50% spectators capacity in stadiums: The second edition of the Lanka Premier League will begin this Sunday, December 05, and the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has confirmed that spectators will be allowed up to 50% of the stadium’s capacity. LPL 2021: 50% spectators capacity allowed in stadiums for 2nd edition of Lanka Premier League

“We have had discussions right along with the Ministry of Health, and they have agreed to give us 50% spectators,” Arjuna De Silva, the head of SLC’s medical committee said at a media briefing ahead of the tournament.

“There is a new variant [Omicron], but that is immaterial, as we always follow the health guidelines. We are asking for spectators who have been double vaccinated for at least two weeks,” Arjuna added.

The board further said that the online window for tickets sale will be available in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the ongoing 2-match Test series between Sri Lanka and the West Indies at Galle is the first instance of spectators allowed in the stadium in Sri Lanka since the Covid-19 pandemic last year.

LPL 2021: 50% spectators capacity allowed in stadiums for 2nd edition of Lanka Premier League

The Lanka Premier League 2021 will begin on the 05th December 2021 with the tournament opener scheduled to be played between Galle and Jaffna at the RPICS, Colombo. It is Sri Lanka’s topmost domestic tournament, with an international flavor, and will consist of 24 games.

The first round of the tournament, which will consist of 20 games will be played at the RPICS, Colombo before it moves into MRICS, Hambantota to proceed with the final round games.
