Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton has ended all speculation around his future in Formula 1. Mercedes announced the 7-time world champion will be staying at the team till at least 2025. In the press conference on Thursday, the Briton insisted he wasn’t staying to get some kind of revenge. This was a reference to the 2021 title that many people believe was wrongly given to Max Verstappen and Red Bull. Hamilton just wants to win again.
Hamilton’s “Unfinished business”
Lewis Hamilton stated that he wants to win that 8th world title, and he wants to win it with Mercedes. This is what is motivating him. Additionally, he feels he is still improving every weekend and that is keeping him going.
Mercedes’ Soul-searching
Lewis Hamilton, better than everyone, knows that Mercedes got the current rule cycle wrong. He publicly stated how the team didn’t listen to him for their 2023 car either. However, he can finally see improvements within the team. He says the team is more motivated than ever. They are also in a place where everyone is more open to ideas. Lewis Hamilton wants to improve Mercedes and challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton is currently 38 years old. His current contract will see him race in Formula 1 when is 40. He was asked about the influence of Fernando Alonso on his decision. Lewis praised the longevity of Alonso and said the Spaniard is proving that “your talent never leaves” till you are passionate and committed.
However, he said his real motivation for continuing to compete into the fifth decade of his life is Tom Brady. Lewis Hamilton is close friends with the NFL Legend. He revealed he has spoken to Tom about his processes, and aims to achieve something similar in Formula 1.
