A week ago PSG sporting director Luis Campos had revealed that the team and Lionel Messi are in contract negotiations. Speaking to Telefoot he had said, “At the moment, we are in discussions with Messi for his extension. I would like to keep him in this project, I can’t hide it. We are talking at the moment to achieve this goal, and continue to have him with us,”
The French publication has further reported that the Argentine superstar’s family would be open to living in the United States with Messi owning a home in Miami where he regularly holidays. The media outlet quoted Inter Miami manager Phil Neville’s statement from last month where he refused to rule out the possibility of signing the Argentine great.
He had said, “We want to bring the best players in the world to this club and he is probably the best player, so for us the landscape has not changed at all. With any deal for any Designated Player of that level, it’s complicated. It takes time.”

Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Lionel Messi’s future at PSG
While Lionel Messi’s future at PSG remains uncertain, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently insisted that Messi will eventually decide to stay in Paris. He said, “I think that if both want to extend the contract, he will stay. We are going to talk after the World Cup, but I confirm a thousand times he is very happy at the club, he’s having a great season, and he’s adapted to French football. I think he wants to stay.”
