Novak Djokovic has been out of action since winning the Wimbledon this year and he is set to make his return to competitive after two months. After arriving in London for the Laver Cup, he said, “It’s exciting, it’s great to be here. Probably once in a lifetime to be in a team alongside Rafa (Rafael Nadal), Roger (Federer) and Andy (Murray), three of my biggest rivals.”

Andy Murray too said he is very much looking forward to play along with his ‘rivals’ in the same team. “These are guys that I’ve competed against throughout my whole career and it’s been extremely challenging. So I’me very much looking forward to be part of the same team as them.” Also speaking about Roger Federer’s retirement, he added, The Sport misses him, it would be amazing to see Roger back on the court again.”

Meanwhile, Federer has confirmed that he will not be playing in the singles in the Laver Cup and would rather feature only in the doubles. “I am quite surprised how well I am playing in practice here. But it was already clear beforehand that I would only play doubles, probably on Friday evening. That’s why playing the Swiss Indoors in Basel was no longer an option,” Federer told Swiss-German daily Tages-Anzeiger. Federer is expected to team up with Rafael Nadal in doubles on Friday evening. The Laver Cup begins on 23rd September, Friday and will be played till 25th September, Sunday.
