Laureus Sports Awards 2022: Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski claims the Exceptional Achievement award
Robert Lewandowski who is the front runner to win the Ballon d’Or having scored 33 goals in the Bundesliga this season and 13 goals in the UEFA Champions League. He has been awarded with the Laureus Academy Exceptional Achievement Award.
“It means a lot to me to be recognised by such wonderful people and athletes – sport legends from around the world,” said the 33-year-old. “With success comes responsibility. Nelson Mandela said: ‘Sport has the power to change the world.’ Let us carry forward that message, particularly at this current time as innocent people in Ukraine are dying.”

Laureus Sports Awards 2022: Euro 2020 Champions Italy named Team of the Year for the 2nd time
The Italy Men’s Football Team were named as the World Team of the Year award for the second time as their country suffered largely with the pandemic and with Italy winning the Euro 2020 Cup it brought the country closer and together during these difficult times.
Laureus Sports Awards 2022: Real Madrid Foundations claims the ‘Good Society Award’
The Real Madrid Foundation becomes the first winner of the category of Good Society Award. Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez received the award saying, “This acknowledgement for the Real Madrid Foundation is a great honour both for our club and for the millions of Madridistas who feel proud of the huge charitable work that we carry out, reaching every corner of the world.”
“The award is a big boost to all of those who tirelessly work every day to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable in our society, especially children at risk of social exclusion”.

The Awards are widely known as the Oscars of the sports world and celebrate the best of the best athletes from across the globe.
