Lakshya Sen did not have the best of his outings after failing to make much impact in his tie against Shesar Rhustavito. The Indian World No.9 made a strong start in the first set but unfortunately succumbed 20-22. The second set didn’t see much action as Lakshya could barely make his opponent work and conceded the match in straight sets.
Kidambi Srikanth [IND] vs Misha Zilberman [ISR] – Srikanth won 21-18, 21-6
Kidambi Srikanth faced a strong challenge to take an advantage of Misha Zilberman in the opening set. However, the Indian showcased sheer skill and nerves to see it through and seal the first set 21-18. In the second set, Srikanth was more in the zone as he eased to victory with a convincing 21-6 scoreline.
PV Sindhu [IND] vs Aya Ohori [JAP] – Sindhu won 21-15, 21-10
PV Sindhu continues her win streak and becomes the first Indian to advance to the QFs after two heartbreaking losses of youngsters Lakshya Sen and Malvika Bansod earlier in the day. The Indian stalwart faced a stern challenge from Japan’s Aya Ohori but ultimately prevailed, sealing the tie 21-15, 21-10.
Malavika Bansod [IND] vs Pornpawee Chochuwong [THA] –Malvika lost 8-21, 14-21
After Lakshya, Malvika Bansod also crashed out in the pre-QFs, but not before putting up a valiant effort against sixth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong. The Indian youngster could not find a foothold in the first set but made amends in the second only to go down fighting 8-21, 14-21
