Watch: Jon Jones toughest fights against Alexander Gustafsson, Dominick Reyes and more

The first person who springs to mind while discussing his most difficult struggle is Alexander Gustafsson. Fans of mixed martial arts witnessed a bout between the two superstars at UFC 165 that went into the annals of history.

This battle was perfect in every way, and many fans still remember it fondly as they frequently relive it. Both superstars entered the fight on lengthy winning streaks: Jones has nine straight victories while Gustafsson had six.

The title fight was a full-fledged brawl and one of the toughest battles in UFC’s history. Gustafsson impressively beat up Jones after pushing him aggressively with strikes and takedowns. Jones, who frequently finishes the fight in the first or second round, was held captive until the very last second.

Jones, on the other hand, showed why he had the light-heavyweight belt for such a long time by pushing through the tough situations to return with elbows, spin kicks, and knees to amass enough points to secure the Unanimous Decision victory.

Dominick Reyes

Similar to this, his bout with Dominick Reyes, which served as his last contest before taking a three-year break, was a fierce contest. Although many argue that Jones wasn’t at the peak of his powers and even consider this victory to be a robbery, this was Jones’s most difficult contest to date.

The match’s official results show that Jones defeated Reyes by a unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46). The opponent stood out in the first two rounds of the title battle, and Jones clearly had trouble stopping him as he was landing powerful strikes. Reyes seemed to knock down Jones with a straight left in the opening round, but given that the punch struck Jones’ midsection, it didn’t happen.

While the third round was very close, Jones definitely prevailed in the next two rounds, as can be seen by the fact that Rounds 4 and 5 were both decided by scores of 10-9 in his favour. And in the end, after a fierce fight, he kept the win for himself.
