Joao Felix has a contract with the La Liga side Atletico Madrid till 2026. At the start of this year, they loaned Joao Felix to the Premier League giants Chelsea. The loan was for the duration of the remaining half of the season. Now that it is coming to an end, Chelsea want to keep the player for another season and they were planning on buying the player. However, Atletico Madrid demanded a whopping €100 million. Considering the several issues Chelsea are battling near the end of this season, it will be impossible for them to pay the amount for one player.

As a way to keep Felix for next season, they now want to extend the loan period for another season. However, it will be a matter to see whether the deal will be fruitful for Felix or not. Felix has been featured 12 times for Chelsea since his at the club and he has scored twice. He was favoured as a starter under Chelsea’s previous coach Graham Potter. However, since Frank Lampard has taken over, he has seen comparatively less playing time. However, as Chelsea have shown interest in retaining him, it shows that they consider Felix a worthy player.

After the ownership change at Chelsea, their new owner Todd Boehly went on a spree to buy several talented players. This turned into a curse in disguise as Chelsea now have a bloated squad. They have 31 players in their arsenal with several talented ones. Many of them don’t get regular playing time due to the abundance of talent. This has brought down the team’s morale, created more problems for all coaches, and diminished the whole team’s performance. Now Chelsea is sitting in the 12th position in the Premier League table with only 5 matches left to play.

Chelsea also had to cease their financial operations under previous owner Roman Abramovich as he was sanctioned by the government. This caused a huge £121.3 million loss from which they will have to recover. To solve these issues, it is assumed that they will be selling a lot of players in the coming transfer window. The list includes several talented players, like Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, Trevor Chalobah, and more. Rumours are, they could sell as many as 8-10 players during this summer transfer window.

In the midst of Chelsea having to decide which players to keep, they reached out to Atletico Madrid to know Joao Felix’s transfer fee. They brought the player on a mere loan fee of €11 million. Atletico Madrid have had no problem after loaning the talented player to Chelsea. Antoine Griezmann has bloomed into his role once again.

Atletico Madrid are now in the second position in the La Liga table. They work well without Felix on the team. However, they still want to make a good amount of profit from the transfer, so they demanded €100 million. It will be a matter to see whether they would agree to a loan extension from Chelsea’s side or not.
