“The League committee which met last week agreed on direct bids for IWL, but the process would be initiated only if qualified teams refuse to participate,” a senior official told TOI.
The present IWL being played in Ahmedabad has sixteen teams. Divided into two groups, the best four players from each group will advance to the knockout stage and get direct invitations to the IWL, which will be contested for the first time in a home-and-away format the following season.
If any team chooses to withdraw, the AIFF will request corporate offers for direct entrance into IWL that are at least Rs 2 crore. Companies must have a minimum net worth of Rs 50 crore in order to compete, however teams with larger bid values will be welcomed. IWL bidders will pay a bid cost of Rs 2 crore, in contrast to the I-League where the AIFF established a three-tier bid structure categorised as tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3.

Prior to the season, the IWL clubs have reacted differently to the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) decision to guarantee a minimum wage for female football players in the Indian Women’s League (IWL). While other clubs have questioned the decision’s viability, some clubs have accused the national federation of making decisions in an unambiguous manner.
Teams complained that matches were scheduled at 8am, but only evening games—less than half of the total—were being webcast on the federation’s official YouTube channel. This season’s IWL has been plagued by issues. Additionally, it has been revealed that the federation published a tender for the IWL broadcast on April 21, just four days before the league was scheduled to begin in Ahmedabad.
