Days after Toney was dropped off of England’s World Cup 2022 roster, word of the initial allegations broke. CEO Mark Bullingham stated that the charges against the forward were unrelated to his expulsion from the competition. Toney has stated that he will support the FA’s inquiries and won’t speak until the inquiry is over.
The FA have informed Brentford that Ivan Toney has been charged in relation to additional 30 breaches of FA betting rules, taking the total to 262 breaches. 🚨 #BrentfordFC

“Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of The FA’s Betting Rules,” read an FA statement. “In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA Rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and 18 February 2019. Ivan Toney has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response.”
The allegations looming over Toney have partially obscured his strong Premier League performance this season. He scored 10 goals in 14 appearances. The striker will next play for Brentford against Tottenham in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
