The draw has Iga Swiatek as the top seed and she will be making a return to this tournament after missing Madrid Open due to shoulder niggle. Swiatek leads first quarter

Iga Swiatek who has won her last four tournaments this year on the WTA tour, makes a return to the circuit after missing the Madrid Open. She is the top seed at Rome and she has received a bye in the first round. She will start her campaign against the winner between Shelby Rogers and Alison Riske.

Anna Kontaveit, who is the fifth seed is the next top seed in the quarter. She is likely to face Karolina Muchova in the second round, as she has received a bye. Meanwhile, the draw also has big names like Bianca Andreescu, Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka.

Raducanu faces Andreescu in the opening round while Osaka will face Spain’s Sara Tormo. If both Osaka and Raducanu win their pening round, they will face each other in a blockbuster second round clash.

Aryna Sabalenka & Danielle Collins headline second quarter 

Aryna Sabalenka, who is the third seed in the tournament leads the second quarter. She has received a bye in the first round and will face either Shuai Zhang or Martina Trevisan in the second round. The other top seed in the draw is seventh seed Danielle Collins.

Collins too has received a bye and will face either Simona Halep or Alize Cornet in second round. The quarter also has 12th seed Belinda Bencic and Madrid Open finalist Jessica Pegula.

Fourth seed Maria Sakkari leads third quarter

Fourth seed Maria Sakkari is the top seed in the third quarter of the draw. Sakkari will face challenge from Sloane Stephens or Madirid Open semifinalist Ekaterina Alexandrova in the second round, as she has received a bye from the first round.

Garbine Mugurza, who is the eighth seed is the next top seed in the quarter. Muguruza will face a qualifier in her opening contest. She is likely to meet Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals.

Jabeur is the ninth seed in the tournament and she faces Sorano Cirstea in the first round. The quarter also has Coco Gauff, who is the 14th seed.

Paula Badosa leads fourth quarter 

Second seed Paula Badosa is the top seed in the fourth quarter. She has received a bye and will take on either Veronika Kudermetova or a qualifier. Sixth seed Karolina Pliskova is the next big seed in the quarter. She will face the winner between Jil Teichmann and Jasmine Paolini in the second round.

11th seed Jelena Ostapenko too features in this quarter. She will face a qualifier in the first round. Meanwhile, 14th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Leylah Fernandez face each other in the first round.
