However, Daniel Cormier has seemingly picked his side and is siding with the UFC Middleweight champion in this debate. During a recent episode of his show on ESPN MMA, DC & RC, the UFC Hall of Famer suggested that Israel Adesanya was smart in his fight against Jared Cannonier. He said:

“The reality is I thought he fought a good fight. I thought he was smart, I thought he dominated the fight, I mean he won the fight four rounds to one on both cards and the other one was five rounds to zero. What more can you want from a guy in defending his championship but winning all the rounds.”

UFC 276: Daniel Cormier defends Israel Adesanya from criticism

It is safe to say that Daniel Cormier doesn’t care about whether or not Israel Adesanya gets the finishes in his fights and rightfully so. As long as Adesanya continues to successfully defend his championship while seemingly taking no damage at all, its all good.

Daniel Cormier opines on a potential matchup between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira

There is an incredible storyline forming in the middleweight division of the UFC ever since the arrival of Alex Pereira. The Brazilian is the only man to have to defeated Israel Adesanya in the middleweight division. Even though it was in kickboxing, Pereira holds two victories over Adesanya and from what it seems, he might be next in line to face ‘Izzy’.

In the same episode of DC & RC, Daniel Cormier opened up on a potential match up between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. While suggesting that people shouldn’t get too lost in the results of the first two fights between the two, Cormier said:

“I want to tell people, RC, don’t get too lost in the results of the first fights of two because Izzy was beating him in the second fight. Izzy was winning the second fight and got knocked out, so go back and watch that kickboxing before we rush to judgment and rush to expectation of what Alex Pereira can do to Israel Adesanya.”
