Islam Makhachev jumped into the octagon to attack Conor McGregor
This incident took place after the infamous contest between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in 2018. The two rivals had a lot of history before the contest and there was a lot of trash talk from both parties. The trash talk did not end with the fighters, but also continued to the two camps.
After Khabib submitted McGregor, he jumped out of the cage to attack some members of McGregor’s corner. At the same time, some members of Khabib’s team jumped into the octagon to attack McGregor for all the things he had said about Khabib, his team, and his people. However, while all this was going on, Makhachev joined Khabib in attacking Danis.
At 0:39 from this video clip from fans in attendance at the event, you can see Makhachev running along the octagon to join Khabib to attack Danis. Another video shows Makhachev clearly punching Danis with an overhand left.
Despite him not jumping in the cage, Islam Makhachev felt the wrath of the UFC in the aftermath. The Russian risked a ban from the UFC for his actions. However, after Khabib intervened and later Dana White settled things with the fighters.
