The Kerala Blasters squad left the field during the first half of extra time of the ISL elimination match on Friday in protest of what they believed to be an illegal free-kick taken by Bengaluru FC. The incident resulted in extraordinary scenes and a contentious decision for the match. Sunil Chhetri took the free kick, and Ivan Vukomanovic then led the players off the field, down the tunnel, and into their locker rooms.
Sunil Chhetri’s goal after coming off the bench gave Bengaluru FC the advantage in the first leg of the semi-final. Mumbai City dominated the first half, and they continued to do so to begin the second. Bengaluru FC was taking their time with their game plan, playing excellent defence, and posing a serious threat during counterattacks. Greg Stewart came quite close to tying the game, but Mumbai City suffered their third straight defeat.
