It was a topsy turvy game for both sides as the Green and Maroons were pegged back by a great Adrian Luan freekick. But David Williams instantly brought them back with a goal and overall they had some great chances in the first half. So given the way, things turned out Ferrando looked satisfied with three points.

I think in the first half we tried to take some chances and we did the same thing in the second half. But the second half was very difficult especially the last six minutes in the second half. So, I’m happy that at the end we managed to get a point,” Juan Ferrando stated at the post match press conference after a 2-2 stalemate against Kerala Blasters.

Surprisingly the Spanish tactician subbed out David Williams in the second half to bring on star man Hugo Boumous. Although Boumous is a player who can leave a major impact on the pitch, Williams was in great form and his exclusion meant that the Green and Maroons lost that control and shape which helped them dominate the latter parts of the first half. Sharing insights on the untimely substitution, Juan Ferrando revealed that the Australian is injured and playing more could have aggravated his injury.
“As you know there are a lot of injuries in our camp. We need to protect the players, Williams at big risk, l hope his injury is not dangerous but we’ll see,” the Spaniard revealed.
ATK Mohun Bagan have not lost a single game ever since Juan Ferrando has taken on the reins. The Mariners are currently in the second position in the points table with 30 points from 16 matches, only two points behind leaders Hyderabad FC. The Nizams won their clash against FC Goa to reclaim the throne. But a win would have helped Ferrando’s men keep hold of the summit irrespective of the results elsewhere. Although the Mariners still have enough chance to take over the Nizams, Ferrando was disappointed with two points dropped by his team.
He highlights how their main motive always remains to secure all three points from every game they play. “|n the end for us, our mentality all the time is to get three points and we prepare the team to get three points. Of course, we didn’t get three points, so I’m upset,” Ferrando signed off.
