There are reports suggesting that Amir Dervisevic is parting ways with the club and Fran Sota will be slotting in as his replacement. Earlier the Red and Golds brought Brazilian striker Marcelo Riberio on loan from Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente FC. The young Brazilian striker has joined the club as a replacement for the already departure Daniel Chima Chukwu.

Sota is an attacking midfielder who can also slot in on either flanks and will hope that the two new foreigners can combine and create magic on the field. SC East Bengal desperately need some magic to happen as they are still winless in the ISL this season even after eleven matches. They have only registered six draws and five losses and are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with only six points.
Therefore Sota and Riberio’s arrival may change a few things for the Kolkata Giants. Sota started his career back in the Osasuna youth team and gradually went up the ranks but never managed to break into the senior team. The 31-year-old versatile midfielder has plied his trade for lower-divisions Spanish teams which include teams like Pena Sports FC, CD Varea, SD Logrones, SD Leioa, and CD Tropezon. The best two teams he has featured for are Calahorra and Racing Ferrol, both feature in the Segunda B Groupo B or technically the third tier of the Spanish football pyramid.
Sota is a player who has great ball control and has the ability to progress the ball up the field. He also has a knack of scoring goals after appearing late in the box. He scored four goals in 17 matches for his previous teams CD Calahorra. Therefore his combination with the Indians and also with the likes of Antonio Perosevic and new signing Marcelo Riberio will be very crucial.
SC East Bengal have also parted ways with their head coach Manolo Diaz after a string of poor results. Indian assistant coach Renedy Singh stepped in as an interim coach as the club appointed Spanish tactician Mario Rivera as the next boss. Rivera is serving his quarantine but it will be over before their next game against FC Goa.
