IPL the Villan for WTC Final flop show? Fans THRASH BCCI, Team India
Fans feel IPL is making players fatigued and jaded during WTC Final against Australia at Oval

The sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may be over last month, but the fans are blaming IPL for India’s horror show in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) Final. India batters failed to come to grips with Australia pacers’ meticulous line and length and lost five wickets for just 151 runs at the end of day two of the WTC final at Oval. With still 119 runs to go to avoid follow-on, India are staring down the barrel.

Fans feel IPL is the main reason for players underperforming in WTC. Netzines thrashed BCCI and Team India for not showing any intensity on the field, and just going through the motions. Worse, fans also feel IPL is having an effect on players as they are fatigued and jaded. With IPL being a two-month-long tournament, players did not get rest and quickly had to get into Test mode.

WTC Final: Why fans feel IPL is the villain for India’s pathic performance in WTC Final

  • India have not got time to get acclimatized to conditions in England.
  • Rohit Sharma & Co have not played practice games, also due to IPL finishing on May 29.
  • With only intra-squad games, players also failed to adjust to the Test mode immediately.
  • Former India pacer Irfan Pathan also questioned the pacers’ line and lengths in adjusting to four overs in IPL and then getting into Test mode.
  • Compared to India, Australian players were fresher and came with full intensity
  • The majority of their players also skipped IPL, fans feel that has made all the difference

Speaking about India, they are currently placed at 151 for five at the end of day two. Only Rahane and Srikar Bharat are pair of designated batters left in the team. One more wicket and Australia will harbor hopes of a crushing win over India on day four itself.
