Since the inception of the Playoffs way back in 2011, Mumbai Indians has made three appearances in the IPL eliminator. Their first appearance came on the home turf against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011. MI won the contest by 4 wickets but failed to win the IPL crown in the same year. Mumbai’s next two appearances in the eliminator came against their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings.
CSK outclassed MI on both the occasions. The first eliminator between the two sides was played un Bengaluru in 2012 which CSK won by 38 runs. The second eliminator between the two sides came in 2014 in Brabourne, Mumbai. The Blues once again failed to go past the winning line, losing the contest to an inspired CSK by 7 wickets.
