The franchises were constantly in doubt in regard to the availabiliy of England players. “After the IPL, the ECB is committed to starting the 1st WTC Test Match v New Zealand on 2 June, 2022. The player availability for all the ECB players will be through to Sunday, 29 May, 2022 (sic),” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the franchises ahead of the mega-auction, on February 12 and 13.

  • England players will be able to take part in the league from March 28 to May 29.
  • 24 players will go under the hammer while Moeen Ali & Jos Buttler have already been retained by CSK and RR for Rs 8 & 10 crore respectively.
  • Overseas players will have to undergo a 5-day quarantine or enter directly via bubble to bubble transfer.
  • As per InsideSport, IPL 2022 tentative date for kick-off is April 2.

IPL 2022: Cricket Australia yet to confirm players availability for full season

  • Cricket Australia is yet to give its nod to the Aussies taking part in the IPL 2022.
  • The Australian players are expected to join the franchise after the Australia Tour of Pakistan. While Test only players can join after March 25, the white-ball series will last till April 5.
  • The local talents whose teams failed to make it to the Sheffield Shield Final can participate. It will run from March 31 to April 4. 
  • Overall, 220 overseas players have made themselves available for the IPL 2022.
