IPL 2023: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) have asked the BCCI to split the home games for Rajasthan Royals this season. The 2008 Champions all the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur as their home ground. However, with Jodhpur’s Barkatullah Khan Stadium now returning as a venue, the RCA wants some home games held there. As per Indian Express,, the Barkatullah Stadium in Jodhpur could host some games in the upcoming IPL season. The Rajasthan Cricket Association has made a request for some RR home games to play at the venue. Jodhpur has never hosted an IPL match before, with Jaipur being Rajasthan Royals’ default home ground.
For an association to get an IPL game, each venue needs to fulfil basic criteria. While Jodhpur is up to speed in recent times, the boundary size is a worry. The RCA staged a few first-class games this season, which came after a gap of two decades. The Legends League Cricket games were also played at the venue last year.

“It’s a verbal request. We have been told that RCA has rejuvenated the stadium, and have asked us if we can consider Jodhpur as a new venue for a few IPL games. The board will take a call on it only after the recce team submits its report,” a source in the BCCI told Indian Express
The Barkatullah Khan Stadium has a capacity of 30,000. The ground was packed during the LLC games and one can only imagine the response during an IPL fixture, especially with a home and away format. As per protocol, BCCI will now send a team to inspect the stadium. The inspectors will send a report to he IPL Governing Council before a final decision is made.
Besides Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals have also played home games at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, with Gujarat Titans now part of the set-up, that provision is out of the equation. The Stadium has since undergone a makeover and is now Hardik Pandya and Co’s home ground.
