Amongst the runs, Mayank is giving an excellent impression to his IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. To note, the Orange Army are yet to announce their skipper for the upcoming edition. “Who said we don’t have strong candidates? There are Bhuvneshwar and Aiden and with Mayank coming in, we have a solid leadership group. We will see how it goes in Ranji for Mayank and then take a call on the captaincy,” an SRH official told InsideSport earlier.

Agarwal has stroked 284 runs in just five innings in Ranji
Leading Karanataka, Agarwal had stroked three fifties in the domestic competition. However, he failed to convert his start to a big innings. But, Agarwal rectified himself against Chhattisgarh. The right-handed batter is currently unbeaten on 102 runs and will resume his innings tomorrow. Agarwal has already amassed 284 runs in Ranji Trophy 2022-23 and he is playing his fifth innings in the competition. The senior batter will look to go big and probably try to score a double century against a meek looking opposition bowling line-up.
Who will be the new skipper for Sunrisers Hyderabad? Despite signing Mayank Agarwal, SRH coach Brian Lara remained uncommitted over the appointment of a new skipper. Mayank Agarwal has experience leading a team. The Indian opener led Punjab Kings last year but was sacked and subsequently released. However, his numbers declined sharply at Punjab as captain. Whether SRH will take the risk of the same remains to be seen. Aiden Markram and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also options for the franchise.
