Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals along with Mumbai Indians were bidding for the 23-year-old in a three-way face-off. Ultimately it was MI who managed to lad the young Australian. Following the auction, Cameron Green revealed that he was nervous when teams went all out to buy hi during the IPL 2023 Auction.
“I’m pinching myself that this has all happened. It’s such a weird feeling watching an auction for yourself. I can’t believe how nervous I was and I was shaking like anything when the final call was confirmed. I’ve always been a huge fan of the IPL and it’s going to be so cool to be a part of it. The Mumbai Indians are one of the powerhouses of the competition so I feel very humbled to be joining them. I can’t wait to get there next year,” Green said.
Taking to his personal Instagram account, Green posted an image with Mumbai Indians players and wrote that he is humbled and stoked to be joining the Mumbai Indians team.

The inclusion of Cameron Green adds more firepower to the already start studded Mumbai Indians lineup. The MI team already features the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav in the lineup. If Jofra Archer managed to return to full fitness ahead of the IPL 2023, he along with Jason Behrendorff and Bumrah will make the five time champions bowling unit a formidable one. The inclusion of Green will provide the team a balance as he will not only provide bowling option but also score runs at brisk pace. The Australian has already displayed his batting skills during the recent Australia tour of India prompting IPL teams to take interest in him.
Speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live – Auction Special’ Green sounded excited to begin his maiden IPL journey with five-time champions.
He said, “I think joining such a great team in Mumbai, we obviously got such a history, all the past players that have played for them, and how great they are and how good the team is at the moment. I think you can look through all the players, playing with them, Rohit, Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav to name a few. Yeah, having Tim David, Jason Behrendorff also from Australia, so I’m so excited. We’ve got so much talent that you can learn off them and improve your own game. I loved my time in India for the two weeks then, so I’m happy I’m going to come back and be playing with the Mumbai Indians.”
