Archer won the “MVP” award during IPL 2020. However, he was ruled out of the 2021 and 22 editions due to injury concerns. Despite that, MI bought him for a hefty price during the IPL 2022 auction. Hence, fans would want Archer to play IPL 2023. With Jasprit Bumrah also nursing a back injury, Mumbai Indians have been concerned with their pace attack that struggled last season.

He last played an international game in March 2021. As a matter of fact, he hasn’t played any competitive cricket since July 2021. Prior to his back stress, he was recovering from an elbow injury. Nevertheless, he has been working on his comeback, and retained his central contract for 2022-23 with England as well.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Archer will travel to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for his rehab. Another important point to be noted is that the likes of Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse will also be accompanying him. The Lions training group that missed most of the 2022 season due to injuries will be in the gulf nation from November 6-27. Their tour includes a three-day practice match against England’s Test team starting on November 23.

England will be touring Pakistan for a Test series in December. Post which, they will also be travelling to Sri Lanka for a red-ball and white-ball series. In the meanwhile, Mo Bobat, ECB’s performance director, drew light on the selection process for the training camp in UAE. He stated that it was “as individualised as possible”.

“Selection for the camp was conducted in close collaboration with both players and counties. And there are a number of players that have been encouraged and supported to take up other opportunities at home and overseas. It’s great to be able to recommence Lions developmental experiences and the camp in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The camp also supports the England Men’s team in their preparation for Pakistan, allowing England and Lions players to work closely together in overseas conditions,” Bobat added.

Thus, English fans would he hoping to see Jofra Archer back in the England team as soon as possible. The bowling all-rounder has been impressive ever since he made his international debut. In fact, Archer played an influential role during England’s successful 2019 ODI World Cup-campaign.
