“Whether he plays or not next year it is almost irrelevant. Personally I don’t think he will but then he is MS Dhoni,” said Matthew Hayden.
Taking about Dhoni’s tactical genius prowess Hayden went on to reveal that MS Dhoni is a magician who can bring out the best in each and every of his players. Hayden went on to explain how Dhoni has been able to extract the best out of his players by apparently changing someone’s ‘trash into treasure’.
MS Dhoni has been the most vital player for the Chennai Super Kings since the inception of the franchisee. Hayden claimed that such has been Dhoni’s success story with CSK that even if he playing with the team next season, it will be ‘almost irrelevant’.

“MS is a magician. He takes someone else’s trash and makes them treasure. He is a very skilful and positive captain. He said something really interesting which I thought summed up not only his humility and his truth around cricket where he is represented and that is in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association,” Hayden told PTI.
MS Dhoni has been instrumental in CSK’s endeavors to reach the finals of IPL 2023, a record 10th appearance and the most for any IPL team. To start off, Dhoni didn’t have a good bowling unit, but he went on to create wonders with that. Youngster Tushar Deshpande has been a revelation and has been the Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana.
While Deepak Chahar missed the games at the start of the season with a hamstring injury, star foreigner Ben Stokes barely played in IPL 2023. Despite such problems, Dhoni went on to overcome all odds and reach the finals.
“The alignment between that association and the franchise, how strong that is in terms of building that process. To me that is MS Dhoni. There is a systematic way of going though things and working through them. He did that for India and he is doing it for Chennai Super kings,” added Hayden.
