IPL 2023: KL Rahul – It seems the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season is turning out to be heavy on pockets for the captains, as KL Rahul became the third skipper to be fined for code of conduct breach. During the game against RR, LSG bowlers were found behind the over rate after all the time allowances were taken into consideration. As it was the team’s first offence for the season, Rahul is fined Rs 12 lakhs. If LSG are yet again found behind over rate, then Rahul will be banned for one game. While defending a score of 154, LSG bowlers conceded as many as six wides and one no-ball. That extras from bowlers coasted some delay in the innings, as umpires found Rahul & Co one over behind the normal norm.

IPL 2023: LSG march along in IPL 2023 Season, KL Rahul’s form in focus

Speaking about the game, LSG beat RR by 10 runs, and have now four wins from five games. Currently, LSG are second on the points table. While the team has ticked major boxes so far, skipper Rahul’s form is a cause of concern for the side. The right-hand batter did manage to be amongst runs by scoring a sedate 74 against PBKS and 39 against RR, but those runs have come at an ordinary-looking strike rate of 114.79.

Rahul’s slow batting is putting a huge amount of pressure on the middle order. While the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis are pushing the run rate with lusty blows, LSG will require their captain to score runs at a brisk clip if they want to go all the distance this time around. Kevin Pietersen was agitated seeing Rahul bat at such an awful pace and went on to say, “Watching KL Rahul bat in the powerplay is the most boring thing I’ve ever done.”

LSG will take on GT on April 22, and the fans would not mind seeing aggressive Rahul batting in the power play.
