Suresh Raina’s father Trilokchand Raina was a military official. He was an expert in making bombs and thus was posted in the bomb-making ordinance factory before his retirement. It has been known that Trilokchand passed away from cancer today at their family residence located in Ghaziabad.

Originally from Jammu and Kashmir, Raina grew up in the small town of Muradnagar. The Raina’s were originally from the Rainawari located in the Jammu and Kashmir. During the 1990s when the massacre of the Kashmiri pandits took place, Raina’s father along with his family left their ancestral place in Kashmir and came down to settle in Muradnagar.
Having a mere salary meant he could not afford cricket coaching for a young Raina. However, Raina’s life took a turn when was admitted to the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College located in Lucknow in the year of 1998. From debuting for the Indian team to winning the World Cup in 2011, Raina had won it all in his successful cricketing career.

Raina who retired from International cricket alongside MS Dhoni in 2020 revealed that he never mentioned anything related to the massacre incident of Kashmir to his father.
