IPL 2022: Sachin Tendulkar inspects Sharad Pawar Indoor Academy – With just a few weeks remaining ahead of the much anticipated IPL 2022 season, Mumbai Indians mentor and Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar paid a visit to the BKC where he inspected the newly revamped Sharad Pawar indoor academy located at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Sachin Tendulkar had previously requested the surface of the indoor academy to be redone ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Apart from Mumbai Indians, quite a few teams would be taking part in their training and conditioning during the IPL 2022 season. Thus, the facility of the academy has to be top-notch.

“Tendulkar had suggested to the MCA that the indoor academy at BKC’s surface be redone, so that cricketers benefit from it. When the work on the surface was completed, Sanjay Naik requested Tendulkar to come and have a look at the place and meet the person who has done the work,” said a close source of Sachin.
IPL 2022 will be held in the state of Maharashtra with 55 matches scheduled to take place in Mumbai while the remaining 15 games will take place in Pune. A controversy amongst the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is still ongoing between the officials. The treasurer of MCA, Jagdish Achrekar alleged that the inauguration of the indoor academy took place without his knowledge.

“I wasn’t informed about it. I don’t want to rake up a controversy, but this can’t be treated as the official inauguration of the academy. I had just come to BKC to watch the Harris Shield semifinal with Apex Council members Abhay Hadap, Kaushik Godbole and Ajinkya Naik. None of us four knew about this,” Achrekar told Times of India.
On the other hand, the charges were denied by Naik who told Times of India, ” There was no inauguration of the academy. It was just an inspection, which was recommended by Tendulkar himself. The academy was inaugurated 12 years back, so where does the question of inauguration come from?”
