KL Rahul is the prized possession of the player draft and Ahmedabad will do whatever it takes to get the Indian opener on board. Rahul has been amongst the top contenders for Orange cap in the past four seasons and has led Punjab Kings in the last two with limited success. Rahul, who could also slot in as a wicket-keeper offers versatility and stability and the franchise will be looking at him as a leader for their new beginnings.
Hardik Pandya
KL Rahul’s close friend and Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to be released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Pandya, who hails from Baroda, Gujarat, will have a sort of homecoming with Ahmedabad and will have point to prove with his place in the Indian team in question. Hardik Pandya’s form and fitness has been questionable over the past year or so, and the 28-year-old will hope to repay the faith should Ahmedabad back him.

David Warner’s opening partner Jonny Bairstow will be among the big names available in the auction pool, with Sunrisers Hyderabad likely to retain captain Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan. The English wicket-keeper offers a swashbuckling option at the top of the order and has been consistent in his stint with SRH, making him a desirable alternative for Ahmedabad. Bairstow and Rahul could form a very potent opening pair, building the foundation for the side as they enter the IP 2022 mega auction.
