Both the teams have more or else confirmed their 3 respective retained player lists. The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is scheduled to take place on 12th and 13th January in Bangalore with the main event tentatively beginning from 2nd April. The two new franchise teams would have to spend their budget pool by acquiring some of the top foreign superstars.
Here we take a look at some of the foreign players that are on the buy list of Lucknow and Ahmedabad:-

Josh Hazlewood: The Australian pacer is a definite target owing to his good form and his good performance in IPL 2021. Hazlewood scalped 11 wickets in 9 innings with a healthy average of 26.63. Both the new teams would be eager to bolster their bowling prowess by adding the 31-year-old pacer to their lineup.
Mitchell Marsh: The Australian all-rounder has been in red-hot form in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). Marsh has scored 314 runs in just 6 innings, thus having a humongous average of 78.50. In terms of bowling, Marsh has been pretty good too. He picked up 5 wickets in 5 innings with an average of 25.40. His brilliant performance would surely keep him in the top spots of the buy list.
Jonny Bairstow: The English wicketkeeping batsman had a decent stint in last year’s IPL. He scored 248 runs in 7 innings and had a good average of 41.33. His past performance will surely earn him a top spot in either of the two new teams.
Trent Boult: The Kiwi pacer had a good season in IPL 2021 having scalped 13 wickets in 14 matches with a good average of 31.23. With Mumbai Indians not retaining one of the most disciplined bowlers of the game, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be eager to pick him up.

David Warner: This Australian hard-hitter needs no introduction for anyone. With 195 runs in 8 innings and an average of 24.37, the consistent run-getter in IPL over the years would be a sure shot pick for either of the two new teams.
Sam Curran: The English bowler had a good form in IPL 2021 having 9 dismissals in 9 innings and a decent average of 36.44. Hoping to continue his good form, Curran would be hoping to carry on his good form.
Kyle Jamieson: The New Zealand fast bowler performed well in IPL 2021. He picked up 9 wickets in equal innings with an average of 29.88. Both the new teams would like to acquire his services to strengthen their bowling attack.

Shakib Al Hasan: The Bangladeshi all-rounder has been a consistent performer in the IPL over the years both with the ball and bat. Though he had a relatively poor performance last season, Shakib will be banking on his huge experience to revive his form. A player of his quality is a must for any team.
Janneman Malan: This young South African batsman can be a brilliant pick for either of the two sides. Having already played 11 T20I for his nation, he has scored 241 runs in 11 innings with an average of 21.91.
Kagiso Rabada: Rabada was terrific in IPL 2020 where he picked up 30 wickets in 17 innings. However, he was equally good in IPL 2021 having scalped 15 wickets in 15 innings. The two teams would be desperate to bolster their bowling attack by roping in Rabada.
