IPL 2022 Venue – Mumbai to Host IPL: The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is all set to be hosted in Mumbai. The BCCI office bearers met on Thursday & a consensus was reached that hosting IPL entirely in Mumbai is the ‘best solution forward’. According to a report by The Telegraphi, the board has confirmed Mumbai as IPL Venue as the matches will be hosted in 3 venues in and around Mumbai.
“We aren’t looking beyond Mumbai so far. The third wave of the pandemic is on the wane and there’s no need to host the tournament overseas,” a source told The Telegraph.

Mumbai to Host IPL – As per the last official statement by the BCCI, the IPL 2022 will start on 27th March. BCCI Sec Jay Shah had informed the media last week that the board & the franchises are keen to host IPL in India itself.
Towing the same line & seeing the current Covid-19 situation in India, BCCI office bearers also gave their consent for hosting entire season of IPL in Mumbai.
Which stadiums will be used to host IPL 2022?
- Mumbai’s three stadiums will be used to host IPL Matches
- Wankhede, Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai have already been shortlisted.
- If required Pune can also be considered as a venue.
- None of this requires any AIR-TRAVEL
- The BIO-BUBBLE is easy to maintain in and around these stadiums as top 5 star hotels are in vicinity.
When will BCCI officially announce their decision? The board will wait till the IPL Auction. The IPL Governing Council is scheduled to meet franchises on the sidelines of IPL Auction. After this meeting, BCCI will officially announce the venue of IPL 2022.
IPL 2022 Venue: InsideSport has already reported that Cricket South Africa (CSA) has also submitted an official proposal to host IPL in case of any eventuality or a last minute change in India.
The BCCI will keep the propsal as ‘SAFETY OPTION’.
For now, the BCCI office bearers are relieved that Covid-19 situation especially in Mumbai has improved considerably. And keeping that in mind the BCCI is confident that IPL 2022 will be hosted in India and will not be taken to any overseas location.
