IPL 2022: The Indian Premier League (IPL) was the most searched keyword this year on Google. The tournament was split into two parts amid the COVID-19 wave in India. While Phase 1 was played in India, the remaining fixtures took place in UAE. In Google’s 2021 year-ender list, IPL emerged on top along with Tokyo Olympics, T20 World Cup and Euro Cup. The year began with IPL 2022 Auctions in February, the season kick-started in April and suspended in June. Later UAE hosted Phase 2 of the IPL season in September, October.
