IPL Fastest Growing Sports League: According to the report, the average valuation of an Indian Premier League each IPL team is currently $1.04 billion (roughly – INR 7974 crores) and it has an annualized growth rate of 24%. IPL’s valuation is currently at around $7 billion and with the IPL Media Rights around the corner, it is likely to cross $10 billion mark.

The other big leagues in the likes of NBA and NFL have fallen way behind in this aspect, since NFL’s team valuation growth rate is 10%, while NBA’s team valuation growth rate is 16%.

Mumbai Indians are currently the most valued IPL franchise with a remarkable valuation of $1.3 billion.

The five-time IPL champions are currently valued more than many MLB, MLS and NHL teams.

What is more impressive is the fact that IPL’s team valuations are only expected to rise from here, given that a new media rights deal will be in place very soon.

Currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a five-year media rights deal with Star India, for which the latter pays a sum total of $2.4 billion. However, this deal will end at the end of the current season and with the addition of two new teams and the subsequent rise in the number of matches, it is expected that the new media deal will fetch BCCI somewhere between $6 billion to $7 billion.
