IPL 2022 Eliminator: Rajat Patidar played an innings of his life on the big stage of IPL as he slammed his maiden T20 Century on Wednesday. Playing for Royals Challengers in the all-important Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants, the batsman slammed 112 off just 54 deliveries to help RCB post a competitive total of 206 on the board. After RCB lost the toss and was put into bat, Patidar entered the crease as early as the first over of the innings after skipper Faf du Plessis was dismissed for a golden duck. Patidar was aggressive in his innings right from the start as he started attacking LSG bowlers.

He scored his maiden century in just 49 deliveries

With the knock, Patidar became only the fourth uncapped Indian in the history of the IPL to score a century. He also became the first uncapped player to score a ton in the IPL Playoffs. This was the highest score by an uncapped player in the IPL knockouts.

All You need to know about Rajat Patidar 

  • Patidar, aged 28, represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket.
  • He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy but came into limelight in the 2018-19 edition after scoring a staggering 713 runs from just 8 matches in that season.
  • He was picked up by RCB at the IPL auction last year for his base price of 20 lakhs.
  • He played four matches last season but managed to score only 71 runs at an average of 17.75 and a strike rate of 114.52.
  • He failed to impress in the limited opportunities that he got and he went unsold in this year’s auction.
  • RCB however picked him as a replacement player in place of the injured Luvnith Sisodia.
  • He has played seven matches this year and has scored 275 runs that includes a century and a half-century at an average on 55 and a strike rate of 156.25.
