RCB moved closer to making their first IPL final in six years as they defeated the Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The Faf du Plessis led side were at their absolute best as they kept KL Rahul and Co. at bay to seal their first knockout stages win since 2016.

1. Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar became only the 4th player to score a century in the playoffs as he slammed an unbeaten 112 of just 54 balls at the Eden Gardens. Patidar paced his innings to perfection, stitching valuable partnerships first with Virat Kohli and then Dinesh Karthik to help RCB post a gigantic 207 on the board.
Patidar is also the 4th uncapped player to a score a 100 in the history of the IPL, with two of those Manish Pandey and Devdutt Padikkal incidentally doing the same while at RCB.

2. Harshal Patel
Faf du Plessis held back Harshal Patel’s overs knowing that he death overs specialist will be key in halting LSG’s charge. Lucknow were in cruise control needing 41 off the last 3 overs and Harshal started the 18th over conceding six runs in wides.
However, the medium pacer pulled things back with the wicket of Marcus Stoinis, and bowled tight lines to concede just two more to reduce the equation to a difficult 33 off 12 balls. Patel then bowled the final over defending 24 with relative ease to end with astonishing figures of 1/25 in his four overs.

3. Josh Hazlewood
Needing 33 of 12, the ball was still in LSG’s court with a well set KL Rahul at crease. However, Josh Hazlewood put on a fine display of fast bowling, first dismissing the Lucknow skipper, before sending back Krunal Pandya for a duck. The double wicket over all but ended LSG’s hopes of making it to Qualifier 2, while RCB advanced further.
