Ravindra Jadeja DUMPED: Jadeja’s performace as captain & player became questionable after taking over CSK’s captaincy right before the season. CSK is currently in 9th position in IPL 2022 Points Table. Their playoff hopes are almost dashed.
“This was never expected. Everyone in CSK camp feels, he took too much of captaincy pressure. It also impacted his own free flowing game”, added the source in CSK Camp.
3 Main Reasons Why MS Dhoni is back as Captain of CSK?
- Reason 1: Promoters were very unhappy with Ravindra Jadeja’s performance as captain. “He looked lethargic, subdued & unimaginative. He was not his usual confident self while leading the team”, said the source in the CSK Camp.
- Reason 2: CSK Position in Points Table: CSK is currently lying 9th in Points Table. The team still has a chance to Qualify for playoffs provided they win all their matches. Management felt they can’t afford any risks with Jadeja & decided to give back the captaincy band to Dhoni.
- Reason 3: Jadeja’s Own Personal Form: Jadeja too has struggled for form. He has scored just 112 runs at an average of 22.40. While bowling he has picked just 5 wickets in eight games conceding runs at 8.19 an over.
The official message from the CSK Camp is that Jadeja himself has left the captaincy.
“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK,” CSK said in an official statement.
“MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the statement added.

CSK Captaincy Drama: Dhoni’s first game back at the helm will come on Sunday in Pune. CSK takes on Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH is currently at No. 4 in points Table.
Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK has won four titles including IPL 2021. MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Jadeja just before the season began. However, Chennai Super Kings were off to a poor start losing the first four games.
