“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK,” CSK said in an official statement.
“MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the statement added.

Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Chennai Super Kings won four titles including IPL 2021. MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Jadeja just before the season began. However, Chennai Super Kings were off to a poor start losing the first four games.
The captaincy had a negative impact on Jadeja the player. He lost his form. The all-rounder struggled with the bat and also could not bag wickets CSK needed.
While the injuries to Adam Milne and Deepak Chahar complicated things for CSK, Jadeja didn’t impress as the leader.
With 6 matches left in the season, CSK have a faint hope of reaching the playoff if they win all six and MS Dhoni will have a big task in taking the team to the playoffs.
