According to BARC Data for the week, almost 50 million viewers tuned in for the two days player acution in Bengaluru.

  • ET has reported that the mega player auctions saw over 40% jump in overall consumption on TV
  • 3. 6 billion minutes were consumed by the fans for IPL 2022 Auction
  • In comparison only 2.5 billion minutes were recorded for 2018 IPL Auction
  • Even on Disney+Hotstar, the video streaming service, the peak concurrency for the auction was at 2.18 million (21.8 Lakh Concurrent Viewers peak)

“This year turn ed out to be the biggest auction event and justified our belief that the runway offers the opportunity to engage with millions of cricket fans and generate immense anticipation for the tournament,” Sanjog Gupta, head-sports at Disney Star was quoted by ET.

IPL 2022 LIVE Broadcast – Star Sports IPL Sponsors: Not only the viewership ratings for the IPL Auction, official broadcaster Star Sports is having great time selling the broadcast sponsorships for this season.

Star has increased the rates of IPL ON-AIR Sponsorships by 20%.

According to information available with InsideSport, Star Sports has already sealed deals with 10 advertisers for IPL 2022:

Star Sports IPL Sponsors – IPL 2022 ON-AIR Sponsorships: According to sources in Disney Star Network, the broadcaster has signed 10 sponsors at increased rates.

Star Sports Network has already signed deals with Cred, Dream11, Byju’s, TATA, Asian Paints, Spotify, Meesho, Swiggy Instamart, Kamla Pasand & Pepsi.

Rates for IPL 2022 ON-AIR Sponsorships

  • Co-Presenting Partners: 160 Crores
  • Associate Sponsors: 90 Crores

It is worth noting that Star Sports has increased the rate of sponsorship packages & inventory rates by almost 20% vis a vis IPL 2021.

The same packages were sealed at 130-140 Cr & 60-65 Cr range respectively in IPL 2021.

“IPL 2022 is very special. It will have 10 teams, will be played in India, will have new format & most importantly new composition of the teams. All of these put together has created huge amount of buzz in the market & Star is rightfully encashing this buzz”, said one of the biggest media agency buying head.

IPL 2022 New Format Explained: How the completely new format is creating huge buzz for the league?

IThe Indian Premier League’s 15th edition will be played in a ‘very unique, interesting & completely NEW Format’.

All 10 IPL Teams have been divided into two groups.

  • Group A: MI, KKR, RR, DC, LSG
  • Group B: CSK, SRH, RCB, PBKS, GT

Each team will play twice with the teams in their group & once with teams in the other group.

Not only this but they will also play two matches with team in the same row in the second group.

With the rest of the teams in the second group they will play only once during the season.

For Example: In Group A, MI will play 2 matches each against KKR, RR, DC, LSG. MI will also play 2 matches against CSK and 1 match each against other teams in Group B.

Similarly, in Group B, RCB will play 2 matches against CSK, SRH, PBKS and GT. RCB will also play 2 matches against RR and 1 match each against other teams in Group A.
