The likes of Ishan Kishan, Shahrukh Khan, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan will be the favourites to go into a bidding war over. If Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar have proven to be handy all-rounders while Shahrukh Khan has dazzled as a hard-hitting lower-order batsman. Ishan Kishan: Mumbai Indians were forced to release him due to retention policy and will do everything in their power to bring him back. Not only franchises will have a future captain in him but also an excellent keeper with batting skills that can fit in opening, top-order and middle-order.
Shreyas Iyer: The former Delhi Capitals skipper left the franchise to pursue the captaincy role but only RCB, Punjab Kings and KKR have a vacancy for the coveted role. The three will be targeting him as captaincy options but he will be the target of the other seven for his excellent batting skills.
Quinton De Kock: The former South African skipper and Mumbai Indians batsman has been in tremendous form. His skills behind the stumps were excellent in IPL while he provided the solidity in opening. Mumbai Indians had to leave him out but will go after him once again in the auction while others would not want to miss out on his skills.

Shahrukh Khan: The Tamil Nadu batsman is a special talent and despite Anil Kumble noticing it, Punjab Kings let the player go. While they will be ruing their mistake, other franchises will be happy to see him in the auction pool. Shahrukh Khan led Tamil Nadu to Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali titles and will be a hot property in the auction.
Avesh Khan: The young pacer was a treat and probably the finding of IPL. At Delhi, he kept on scalping wickets and impressed India selectors. While he is yet to get his India debut cap, he will surely find more than one suitor in the IPL 2022 Auction, especially after finishing with 24 scalps in 16 matches in IPL 2021.

Deepak Chahar: A powerplay specialist with a venomous swing that has castled many batsmen, Deepak Chahar has added power-hitting to his arsenal. His all-round abilities came to the fore in the Sri Lanka series and then he perfected it in the 3rd ODI against South Africa. With seam-bowling all-rounders a rare breed these days, all 10 franchises will be eager to get him on board, especially his old franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Kagiso Rabada: The South African speedster was in prime form in the Test series against India. While Delhi Capitals made a mistake by not retaining him, all other franchises will be eager to have him. In fact, he could be one of the highest-paid pacers of IPL 2022 with the skillset he brings to the table.

Harshal Patel: The Purple Cap winner of IPL 2021, Harshal Patel was released by RCB ahead of the auction. But Harshal Patel will be a hot target of all franchises for the skillset he brings in. With 32 wickets in IPL 2021, he showed his mastery of slower deliveries that will be key on Indian pitches. But his batting skills too will be crucial down the order.
Shikhar Dhawan: The veteran batsman maybe 36 but he has proven age is just a number. One of the most consistent batsmen in IPL, he will be one of the targets of all IPL franchises for the opening slot.
David Warner: Mr Consistent had a major dip in his stats in IPL 2021. SRH not only removed him from captaincy but sidelined him from the squad and eventually released him. But he proved that he wasn’t done yet with the Man of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup. As he is back in form, he will be target of several IPL franchises only apart from SRH. There is likely to be a bidding war for the Australian batsman. PBKS, KKR and RCB are likely to target him as the captaincy option.
