IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians Rahul Chahar’s fitness motivation: Mumbai Indians (MI) star bowler Rahul Chahar opened up on his childhood cricketing days. The leg spinner mentioned his biggest fitness motivation that pumped him up to gear up on his fitness level. Surprisingly, his biggest fitness motivation is not Virat Kohli but Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player- Deepak Chahar.

In a special video shared by Mumbai Indians on National Sports Day, their leggie mentioned that he was moved by his brother- Deepak Chahar’s motivation and the commitment that the latter’s pace bowling would demand. This thing acted as his biggest motivation and since then he pulled up his socks in terms of fitness.

When I was a child, around nine or ten years old, I would see (bhaiya) my brother- Deepak Chahar doing his fitness drills. I wouldn’t do it myself. I would concentrate on bowling, batting and a bit of fielding. But I would not work on my fitness,” Rahul Chahar said.

But I kept observing him, I got motivated. That is something I should work toward. The amount of hardwork that he would put in as a fast bowler. I started doing the same, he added. 

The 22-year-old further mentioned the benefits of acing up his fitness. He mentioned that he can now bowl long spells in the domestic games. He also mentioned that he might compromise at the gym at times but never does it in terms of undertaking running. He feels that running drills evade don’t let him feel any stiffness or tightness while fielding.
