IPL 2021 Auction – Delhi Capitals at Auction: Assistant coaches Mohammed Kaif and Pravin Amre will lead the Delhi Capitals (DC) team at the IPL auctions in absence of head coach Ricky Ponting. The Australian will not be travelling to Chennai for the event scheduled on February 18, confirmed a DC official. Besides, the duo, the Delhi team management will also have Chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi and owner Parth Jindal or Sajjan Jindal and the analyst team seated at the table.

“Ricky (Ponting) and Shreyas Iyer will not be going to Chennai. Instead, Kaif and Amre will be part of team management.

“Besides them, the Chairman, owners and analysts will be travelling to Chennai,” a DC official told InsideSport.

IPL 2021 auction: Delhi Capitals remaining purse and available slot

Delhi Capitals had released six players ahead of the auctions. The 2020 runner-ups now have eight available slots including three overseas. They will be taking the seats at the bidding hall of Grand Chola with a purse of Rs 13.4 crore.

IPL 2021 auction: Who can Delhi Capitals sign?

Having retained their core, DC would be eager to look for a backup for their star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. The Australian all-rounder has been struggling with fitness off-late and the Delhi-team would want a backup plan in case Stoinis gets injured during the season.

Glenn Maxwell will be a big option for DC. However, getting him would not be a piece of cake given the amount DC have with them. Other players who will be on DC’s radar are Chris Morris, Moises Henriques and Shivam Dube.
