Jadeja silences critics with a superb ton and place in history book –
Ahead of the match, there were possible calls of Jadeja being axed from the Playing XI. However, the team management showed faith in him and Jadeja too repaid that with a superb hundred. When he crossed the 104-run mark, he joined the honours list of Indian players to achieve the rear feat of 2500 runs and 200 wickets.
On the fourth ball of the 82nd over, Jadeja scored a single ofd Stuart Broad’s bowling to achieve the feat. Interestingly, Jadeja has kept out R Ashwin from the team to be part of the Edgbaston Test, who is one of the principal members of the honours list. But with his ability to bat and bowl and contribute to the fielding, he has clearly justified his selection in the team.

Jadeja continues purple patch on English soil-
- Earlier Jadeja scored his fourth half-century on English soil in Test cricket and has enjoyed playing in the English conditions.
- His latest ton was his third in Test cricket as there too he joined an elite club to become the fourth player to score two hundred in a calendar year while batting at No.7 or lower.
- Jadeja now has five half-centuries and a hundred in the Test format against England, while this is also his first hundred in a SENA nation.
- The Indian team management will also be pleased with the form of Jadeja with the limited-overs series against England also on the cards.

India reach 400 thanks to Jadeja and Pant-
Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja helped India recover from a difficult situation from Day 1 to reach 400. Just moments after reaching the milestone, Jadeja departed for 104 while Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 146 in the final session of Day 1.
India ended with 416 on the board in the first innings while Jadeja and Pant contributed heavily with a 222-run stand for the sixth wicket.
